Event Awards
The Academy is an Official Partner of the Australian Event Awards for 2012

The team here at the Academy are so excited to announce that the Academy of Wedding and Event Planning will again be an official partner of the Australian Event Awards for 2012. As an ongoing part of our commitment to bring awareness of our students to the industry the Academy has forged a relationship with the Awards and will be sponsoring the category of "Best Private Event". We encourage all our potential, new, past and present students to either enter or attend the awards as this is a fantastic opportunity to meet and network with some of the best within the industry and to celebrate both personal success and the success of your colleagues and peers.
The Event Awards started 4 years ago with the express idea of developing an awards program that was non-exclusive. Most programs of this type in Australia require that you have membership to the group organising the awards, but the Australian Event Awards has no affiliation to one particular group which means ANYONE from within the industry can enter under their chosen category. The entries aren't yet open but make sure you stay tuned as we will be bringing you all the news from the Awards as soon as we get it.
The last Australian Event Awards were held on Thursday 6th of October 2011 and Kylie Carlson (director of the Academy) and Christine Kerr (Course Consultant at the Academy) were both in attendance with two lucky Academy students Renee and Linh. The evening hosted 450 of Australia's top event professionals many of whom were vying for one of the coveted awards. As a major partner of the Awards Kylie was asked to present awards in three different categories one of which was 'The Academy of Wedding Planners Best Private Event'. This was a hotly contested division with some amazing events in the running, however there can only be one winner and that was Anthony Del Col from Staging Connections. The Academy was delighted to be able to both sponsor and present the Awards for this category as it was the first time Private Events had been recognised as part of the Event Awards.
Another fabulous win was friend of the Academy, Brad Blaze, in 'Entertainer of the Year'. Kylie and Christine met Brad on their trip to Las Vegas in 2011 to attend the Event Solutions Ideas Factory and to see him in action at the awards was most definitely entertaining. So for any of you looking for a unique form of entertainment in your next event then this is something to seriously consider. To see him in action click here to watch this clip.
