In Australia we are lucky enough to have an abundance of natural backdrops for events.  From the bush to the beach we love to be entertained ‘al fresco’ and alongside nature.  The beachside venue is especially popular for Weddings, but is also an excellent option for Corporate events and fundraisers.  A beachside setting done well exudes charm and is casual enough to ensure guests relax.  With so many beachside venue options here is a short-list of just a few of my favourites from around Australia.  If you have some favourites of your own let us know about them.  As the country heads into Winter we could all do with some warming up and we will publish a follow up story with your reviews.

Jonah’s at Palm Beach, NSW
With uninterrupted views of the Pacific Ocean as your backdrop and an elegantly casual venue to enjoy it from, this venue has it all when it comes to Weddings and Special Occasions.
Located just 50 mins from the city by road, or an amazing 15 min flight via seaplane, Jonah’s offers; exceptional views, accommodation for guests and stunning options for your events.  In addition to being an event venue Jonah’s has a fully functional restaurant managed by award winning Head Chef, George Francisco which is excellent news for your event menu.

Museum and Art Gallery of NT, Darwin
Located at Bullocky Point, just minutes from Darwin city, the Museum occupies one of the most beautiful spots along the Darwin coastline.  Having lived in Darwin myself for a number of years I was fortunate to attend several events at this venue from Weddings to Corporate Cocktail functions.
The grounds themselves feature enormous trees which provide welcome shade and tropical palms and ferns which really enhance the tropical feel of the location.  Against the backdrop of the bluest waters I have ever seen, the effect is pure magic.
Areas for hire at the Museum include a fully functional theatre environment, to manicured lawns with those views I mentioned.  I highly recommend this venue for late afternoon into evening functions (during the ‘dry’) so that guests can enjoy not only the views, but the starry skies that are another feature of this region.

Sheraton Mirage Resort and Spa, Gold Coast
Sheraton Mirage is exactly that.  A mirage of beautiful grounds, featuring a tropical landscape and sparkling blue waters.  The Gold Coast is well known for its beaches and there are numerous spots along the coast that take advantage of them, but this venue really is something special.
Located just 35 mins from the Gold International Airport and 55 mins from the Brisbane International Airport, the resort is a popular tourist attraction and also feature a Health Spa.  But it is also well known for its world-class meeting and event facilities.
The Grand Ballroom will accommodate 1050 guests’ theatre style, but can be divided into 5 smaller rooms for more intimate events.  All of the facilities take advantage of the natural beauty of the property, making it a great choice for Weddings and Corporate getaways alike.
