Pantone 2012 Colour of the year

Wedding professionals are going mad for orange of all varieties at the moment as Pantone announced its colour for 2012 is Tangerine Tango at the end of last year. There are so many ways this colour can be used from fiery bridesmaids dresses to linens and florals. This is not a soft colour that fades into the background rather one that stands out as a primary colour instead of an accent.

Personally I love this colour and in the mood board above I have teamed it with brown in the background to show how it can be softened slightly for those wishing to move away from the vibrancy and strength of a colour like this.

Here is what Pantone had to say about the colour for 2012. Tangerine Tango, a spirited reddish orange, continues to provide the energy boost we need to recharge and move forward.

“Sophisticated but at the same time dramatic and seductive, Tangerine Tango is an orange with a lot of depth to it,” said Leatrice Eiseman, executive director of the Pantone Color Institute®. “Reminiscent of the radiant shadings of a sunset, Tangerine Tango marries the vivaciousness and adrenaline rush of red with the friendliness and warmth of yellow, to form a high-visibility, magnetic hue that emanates heat and energy.”
